Dreamy Unicorn Latte

unicorn latte

My trip to Saint Aymes in London has forever left an impression on my soul, which is the inspiration behind this Unicorn Latte (and newfound love of flower walls, but that's another story)! I'll be totally honest. I originally made this drink using my espresso machine. I steamed the milk with a splash of French Vanilla creamer, added a little red food coloring, topped it with some homemade whipped cream, pulled an espresso shot and added the espresso once I was done reveling in its beauty and ready to drink it! BUT - knowing that most people don't have an espresso machine at home, I have an alternate solution for you to make your own beautiful, delicious, creamy, Unicorn Latte with everyday ingredients! Yay!

*This recipe does not contain coffee or espresso. It's simply the milk base. "Latte" does translate to "milk," after all.

Ingredients:

1 cup milk

1 tbsp sugar

1/4 tsp vanilla

3 drops red food coloring

Sprinkles

Instructions:

- Heat milk in a microwave-safe mug for 1 minute, stir, then heat another 30 seconds.

- Add sugar. Stir until dissolved.

- Add vanilla. Stir to combine.

- Add 3 drops of red food coloring (more or less depending on the color intensity you prefer).

- Top with whipped cream and sprinkles!

Notes:

If you are fortunate enough to have an espresso machine or milk frother at home, I highly recommend steaming or frothing the milk to a nice microfoam instead of heating in the microwave! Alternatively, you can froth heated milk in a French press. It gives the milk more texture and sweetness.

If you're really wanting a cafe latte and have an espresso machine, pull a shot of espresso and add to your creation. You could also make a concentrated coffee by using a higher ratio of coffee grounds to water and using a French press.

I'd love to see pictures of your creation and hear how you made it your own! Enjoy!
